In this video, PBS reports on how the education sector is leveraging new discoveries in neuroscience, enabling teachers to enhance learning through action – engaging the whole brain.
In another interview with Human Capital Media (HCM), Chief Learning Officer at Dell – Sydney Savion – explained how our growing understanding of brain science can be applied to business training.
Within the expert advice she highlighted the relatively new research into the plasticity of the brain in reacting to environmental stimuli such as exercise to change its structure and enhance its potential.
She described 4 – as she puts it “3 plus 1” key learnings that help Dell encourage more effective learning:
- Engaging the learner in meaningful work
- Construct lessons that involve learners doing their own thinking
- Consistently make connections to the daily lives of learners
- The work of Eric Jenson suggests that 80 to 90% of information absorbed by the brain is visual. Therefore, visually engaging content can increase one’s ability to learn.
New discoveries in brain science are affecting learning and development at many of the world’s leading companies like Dell.
